Baptism: Go public with your faith
A celebration of new life, a symbol of transformation, and a step of obedience.
Who Should Get Baptized? (And what it really means)
Baptism is more than a religious ritual—it’s a rich and beautiful symbol of what Jesus has done for us and what it means to follow Him. At Creekside, we love celebrating baptisms because each one tells a story of transformation, rescue, and new life. Here are the three most important things baptism represents:
1. Union with Christ
When you get baptized, you are publicly identifying with Jesus—His death, His burial, and His resurrection. Baptism is an outward symbol of the inward reality that you’ve been united with Christ. What happened to Him has happened to you: you’ve died to your old life and been raised to walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4).
2. Cleansing from Sin
Baptism doesn’t wash away your sin—but it beautifully pictures the cleansing Jesus provides. Just like water washes dirt off the body, Christ washes our hearts clean. Every part of us needs grace, and through faith in Jesus, every part of us is made new.
3. Entrance into the Kingdom
Just as the Israelites crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land, baptism symbolizes our entrance into a new way of life under Jesus' leadership. It marks your public step into God’s family and God’s kingdom—living under His rule, His grace, and His mission.
